Release time:2011-05-19

(May 18, 2011, Shanghai) Wison Engineering Ltd., one of China’s leading petro-chemical engineering companies, has officially taken on the world’s largest MDI project in partnership with Korean Daelim Corp. A joint EPsCm contract with BASF was signed between the three parties for the engineering, procurement services and construction management of 400,000 metric tons per year MDI (diphenylmethane diisocyanate) project in Chongqing, China, which marks a significant milestone in international business development for Wison Engineering.

As the two main contractors, Wison Engineering and Daelim will jointly implement the project contract, sharing the services of detail design, engineering, procurement services and construction management. The three parties will then form a joint working team at Wison’s headquarter and hold the project kick-off meeting on June 1 in Shanghai. Prior to inking the partnership, it took the three parties more than one year of preparation – including qualification review, bidding, technical and commercial clarification– during which Wison Engineering contributed significantly with its professional expertise, rich local insights, international background and advanced management practices.

With its professional and quality services, Wison Engineering has been unwavering in its commitment to delivering excellent projects for its clients. Adhering strictly to all relevant national regulations, Wison will form a top-tier project management team to manage the project execution and apply BASF’s world-class safety and environmental standards in the project construction. Prior to this cooperation with BASF, Wison Engineering has constructed the world’s largest ethylene cracking furnace which has a 192,000 ton production capacity per year for BASF-YPC (JV of BASF and Sinopec in China).

With the total investment of approx. RMB 8 billion, the 400,000 ton MDI project will consist of an MDI plant, a nitrobenzene plant and an aniline plant. It will form the center of an integrated chemical production complex operated by the Chongqing Changshou Economic & Technology Development Area. The facility, which will produce a core component mainly used for polyurethane foams, is expected to start operations in 2014, and drive Chongqing to become a world class production base and technological center for the production of urethane foam in West China.

Wison Engineering has contracted more than 100 large-scale engineering projects in the petrochemical, coal to chemical and oil refining industries by implementing a variety of project management methods.
